Best Office Chairs Under $200: Fit-First Buying Guide
Research-based buying guide — updated October 20, 2026. We compare documented features and buying checks; we have not physically tested these chairs.
The best office chair under $200 is one that fits your body, works with your desk and stays within your total budget. Start with the SIHOO M18 if adjustable armrests and lumbar support matter to you, or compare the Amazon Basics mesh task chair if you want a simpler setup. Check the current selected offer before buying: this guide does not guarantee a fixed Amazon price.

Quick choice for a $200 budget
- More adjustment: compare the SIHOO M18’s documented seat, armrest and lumbar adjustments with your measurements.
- Simpler task chair: check the Amazon Basics mesh chair’s dimensions and arm clearance against your desk.
- Hard budget limit: reject any offer whose total exceeds $200 after delivery, taxes and necessary extras.
1. SIHOO M18: consider it for a cushioned seat and adjustable support
SIHOO describes the M18 as a cushioned-seat chair with a mesh back, height-adjustable armrests and lumbar support adjustable vertically and horizontally. It is an option to compare if you prefer a padded seat to an all-mesh design.
Check before buying: the exact model, seat height and depth, armrest clearance, seller and applicable return terms. A headrest or several adjustment controls does not prove that the chair will fit you.
Skip it if: the lowest seat position leaves your feet unsupported, the seat presses behind your knees, or the selected offer exceeds your budget.
Read the M18 manufacturer’s specifications.

2. Amazon Basics mesh task chair: compare for a simpler workstation
The linked Amazon Basics chair is a mesh-back office task chair with armrests and adjustable height. Compare it when a simpler chair meets your needs. Do not assume its armrests or backrest offer the same adjustments as a more configurable chair.
Check before buying: the actual seat measurements, arm height, available adjustments and return conditions. Make sure the chair rolls appropriately on your floor and can get close enough to the keyboard.
Skip it if: its dimensions or fixed components prevent a comfortable working position. A lower price does not compensate for a poor fit.

Five fit checks that matter more than the product label
- Seat height: check that your feet can rest on the floor or a suitable footrest while you reach the keyboard.
- Seat depth: you should be able to use the backrest without pressure behind your knees. Compare the published measurements with a chair that fits you.
- Arm position: check that the armrests let you relax your shoulders and bring the chair close to your desk.
- Support and movement: confirm which backrest and tilt settings actually adjust and which positions lock.
- Returns: read the seller’s conditions, including return shipping and packaging requirements, before assembling the chair.
OSHA recommends trying chairs before purchasing and adjusting the chair together with the desk, keyboard and monitor. Its workstation chair guidance explains the relevant fit checks. An “ergonomic” label alone does not establish suitability.
What about the SIHOO M57 and more expensive chairs?
The M57 is a different model from the M18. SIHOO documents a full-mesh design and 3D armrests for the M57; do not transfer those specifications to the M18. We do not treat the M57 or a more expensive Branch model as an automatic under-$200 recommendation. Compare them separately if their actual offer and your budget allow it.
Before you checkout
Write down your three non-negotiable requirements, compare the selected model’s dimensions, and check the delivered total. Keep the packaging until you have checked the assembled chair at your own desk. We do not promise a specific lifespan, universal all-day comfort or pain relief from either chair.
